LSU head football coach Les Miles announced today that star cornerback and Heisman Trophy candidate Tyrann Mathieu has been dismissed from the team. Mathieu was sent packing for violating team policy. He won't play this season. This isn't the first time Mathieu has violated team policy, doing so last year, reportedly for failing a drug test. He was suspended one game for that violation and his Heisman hopes were destroyed.Obviously, Mathieu didn't learn his lesson.
Mathieu would have been a Heisman Trophy candidate, one of the favorites, if he played this season. Not only does he star at cornerback, but he is one of the nation's most explosive return men. He finished fifth in the voting last season.
It's unfortunate more for realizing someone with great talent didn't care if he threw away his career or not.
