"It happened down in Miami and that's where it's going to stay," Holmes said in his first comments since the incident. "Down in Miami."
Unfortunately for Jets fans, Holmes didn't come across as someone who needed to get his act together, saying he has no reason to regret his actions from that infamous incident in the offensive huddle. He also didn't reach out to teammates, which isn't a big deal until you hear him talk about wanting to be a team leader, which he did.
You would think a team leader would be all about bringing a team together, but that's Holmes.
Holmes also said he had nothing to do with the ouster of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who was fired in the offseason. He did say that he was excited for new coordinator Tony Sparano.
All-Pro center Nick Mangold and coach Rex Ryan also had conference calls, with neither giving away anything new. Both said Mark Sanchez is the starting quarterback, and has the team's trust, even with new backup Tim Tebow lurking.
