UPDATE: Sean Ware had two tackles in the Calgary Stampeders 25-13 victory over the Roughriders Friday night.

Bristol native Sean Ware will make his professional football debut tonight with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. Ware, who attended Bristol Central High School and later the University of New Hampshire, signed with the Stampeders earlier this season after being released by the Carolina Panthers (of the NFL) during training camp.

"I'm pretty excited; can't wait," Ware told the Calgary Herald.

Ware spent last season on the Panthers practice squad and has been on the Stampeders practice team this season. The linebacker will play defense and special teams tonight against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

"It was a little bit of a difference (coming to the CFL), and it took me about a week to get acclimated with the elevation up here, and to the width of the field," Ware told the paper. "It's a different style of play, but all in all, it's football."

Stampeders coach John Hufnagel is looking forward to Ware's debut as well. "He's an explosive, athletic football player, and that's why I want to see him on field, both as a defensive player and on special teams."
