The American Basketball Association announced today that it has added a Hartford-based team to its professional league. The team will be called the CT Topballerz.“The return to New England is long overdue,” ABA CEO Joe Newman said in a release. “We are very excited about having the Connecticut Topballerz as part of the ABA. This is an origanization with a wonderful background in sports, business and community involvement. I cannot see how it can be anything but hugely successful. Our Northeast Division teams are thrilled also.”
The team will be owned by Topballerz.net LLC. “The ABA is the perfect fit for our organization,” part-owner Trevor Hairston said. “Aaron [Hairston] and I are very excited about this and it will give us a chance to help young basketball players get started on their professional basketball careers. We are very excited.”
Not much else is known about where the team will play or when. The league had 24 teams last season from all parts of the country.
